Aprovechamiento integral del glicerol residual en la industria del biodiesel: caso 1,3-propanodiol (1,3-pd)

Abstract


La búsqueda de opciones para el desarrollo de procesos químicos limpios, independientes y potenciales sustituyentes de la petroquímica tradicional, ha llevado a que las rutas biotecnológicas se abran paso y sean más tenidas en cuenta.Usando la fermentación de un sustrato, como el glicerol, residuo que ha empezado a incrementar su disponibilidad a nivel mundial,gracias a la creciente producción de biodiesel, es posible plantear un proceso técnica y económica factible, para obtener un producto de alto valor agregado como el 1,3- propanodiol (1,3-PD), el cual por sus notables propiedades tiene importantes aplicaciones y promisoriamente puede llegar a sustituir muchas materias primas y aditivos en la industria de los polímeros, pinturas, lubricantes y otras más.La revisión llevada a cabo busca dar fundamentos sobre esta alternativa de desarrollo no solo económico y ambiental, sino también tecnológico, ya que la bioconversión es una herramienta más racional para el uso adecuado y sostenible de los recursos energéticos y materiales que dispone el hombre. A la vez, se presenta un panorama actual del estado del arte y las perspectivas de dicho bioproceso.
